Col. Clay Masonic Lodge #159 F&AM

Hello Brothers,
The weather is crazy.  I hope you’re able to keep up with it.

We had a few Brothers go to Shelbyville for the Great Day of Service and it was great.  There were about 84 Brothers from across the state to help at the Old Masons Home.  They gave an award to the lodge that traveled the farthest and the award was given to a lodge that traveled 191 miles to help.  That’s about a 4-hour drive; that shows dedication.

We have a busy month ahead and need all the help we can get.  Be sure to check the Upcoming Dates in the bulletin.  Besides the standard items, our Widows Dinner will be held at the Oriental Wok.  Please attend to show them they are not forgotten.  Make your reservation early.  The other big thing that requires your help is putting the flags on veterans’ graves at Linden Grove Cemetery.  The Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts help, but it is OUR responsibility. If you have children or grandchildren, bring them to show what it means to honor our fallen service people.  We also need help the week after to pick up the flags, clean them and put them back in storage. It takes less time to pick them up than it does to put them out.  Please participate with us.

The lodge is in a pickle.  We need to elect a new Treasurer.  If you are interested, contact the Secretary to see what responsibilities go with the office.  See the bulletin for the special election notice.  Give it some thought and come to lodge to vote, or better yet, be elected to serve.

We need to do our Degree work, but we need to have all the offices filled.  I have scheduled degree work, but we need the offices filled and a live candidate.  If we don’t have a candidate, we’ll have a mock degree to demonstrate the officers are proficient in their station and are ready for a real candidate.  We are also willing to help another lodge who has a candidate and needs to confer a degree.  If you know someone who wants to join, let us know so we can reach out to them.

Fraternally,

Jon R. Mace, P.M., Master
